Hazard Mitigation Planning

SEWRPC provides assistance to counties and local governments in preparing and updating hazard mitigation plans. These plans fulfill requirements set forth by the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs, Division of Emergency Management, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Through such planning, appropriate consideration is given to such hazards as flooding, lakeshore bluff failure episodes, severe weather conditions, including windstorms, tornadoes, periods of extreme heat or cold, and winter storms. SEWRPC is currently assisting Kenosha, Racine, and Washington Counties in updating their hazard mitigation plans.
