Proposed Amendment to VISION 2050
Waukesha County is conducting preliminary engineering and environmental study of the reconstruction of the segment of CTH K (Lisbon Road) between CTH JK (Lyndale Road) and Brookfield Road. Information on the project can be found on Waukesha County’s website here. In May 2025, Waukesha County held a public meeting to solicit input from the public related to potential alternatives to address existing and future needs. Based on the comments received, Waukesha County has identified and is seeking comment on their preferred alternative that includes the widening of CTH K from two to four traffic lanes between CTH JK and Brookfield Road. Specifically, the preferred alternative was identified to address existing and planned traffic volumes exceeding existing roadway capacities, to address fatal and serious injury crashes that have occurred, and to better accommodate heavy truck traffic in the corridor.
As the widening of CTH K between CTH JK and Brookfield Road would require an amendment of VISION 2050, Waukesha County is requesting that the plan be amended to include their preferred alternative. A map showing the current year 2050 functional improvements to the Waukesha County arterial street and highway system recommended in Waukesha County under the regional transportation system plan along with the proposed amendment can be found here. Comment received by Waukesha County on the widening of CTH K between CTH JK and Brookfield Road would be considered by the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission as it considers this amendment to VISION 2050.
Public Outreach for Proposed Amendment
A formal public comment period was held for the proposed amendment from June 26, 2025, through July 25, 2026. In addition, Waukesha County held a public meeting on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Sussex Civic Center where written comment on the proposed amendment could be provided. The Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission will review all comments received on the VISION 2050 amendment to add the widening of CTH K from two to four traffic lanes as it considers the adoption of the amendment into VISION 2050.
