2024 Certification Review

Quadrennially, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) conduct a federally required review of Southeastern Wisconsin’s transportation planning process.

Federal Certification

In coordination with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), local transit operators, and local units of government in the Southeastern Wisconsin area, the Commission, as the MPO for the six-county metropolitan planning area in Southeastern Wisconsin, is responsible for conducting a continuing, cooperative, and comprehensive transportation planning program in accordance with provisions of Federal Planning Law. Every four years, the Commission’s planning program and processes undergo a federal review and certification.

As part of the federal recertification review, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will host a public meeting on Tuesday, July 23 beginning at 5:30 PM at Riverworks Development Corporation, 526 E. Concordia Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53212. There will also be a public comment period that will open on July 23 and will run through August 23.
