Model Ordinances

From time to time, the Regional Planning Commission publishes local planning guides, or updates of previously published guides. Recently completed or updated guides include a Land Division Control Guide, an Official Mapping Guide, and a Rural Cluster Development Guide. Each guide contains a model ordinance intended to assist county and local units of government in Southeastern Wisconsin in preparing or modifying their own ordinances on each topic. Each model ordinance is available in both PDF and Word format.

The Commission has also prepared a model ordinance for the creation of a Town Plan Commission. Adoption of Village powers and creation of a Plan Commission are required in order for Towns to prepare and adopt a Town Comprehensive Plan under Section 66.1001 of the Wisconsin Statutes. Model rules of governance for the Plan Commission have also been prepared.
