Transportation
Commercial truck travel which has both ends of a trip in the Region is estimated to represent approximately eight percent of all travel within southeastern Wisconsin. The information obtained from the truck travel survey will be used to estimate the current travel habits and patterns of the commercial truck travel within the Region, identify trends in those travel habits and patterns, and assist in the development of mathematical models to project future truck travel behavior in the Region. The commercial truck travel survey within the Region will be conducted during the spring and fall of 2012.
SEWRPC will be conducting the truck travel survey using a sample of the trucks registered within the Region based on Wisconsin Department of Transportation registration files. Information to be obtained through the truck travel survey will include data concerning: the business or industry of the truck owner, the truck garaging location, carrier type, and vehicle type; and for each trip made using the truck on the assigned survey day, the origin and destination of the trip, trip purpose, and time of day.
The travel survey information provided to SEWRPC will be kept completely confidential and will be used for statistical purposes only. By participating in and completing the requested travel survey, residents within the Region will be performing a valuable public service through assisting in the planning of the Region’s future transportation system. The cooperation of the public in the conduct of the survey will be greatly appreciated.
