Transit Development Plan
Public information meetings were held June 21st and June 22nd.
At the request of Ozaukee County, SEWRPC is preparing a short-range, 5-year plan for public transit in the County. It will include recommendations for transit service improvements for the Ozaukee County Transit System over the study period, 2018-2022.
The Advisory Committee guiding the development of the plan met for the first time in December 2016 to review the introduction chapter for the plan and discuss the overall framework for the study. The study will inventory and evaluate the existing transit services in the County, determine the objectives and standards that the transit system should meet, develop and analyze alternative transit services for the Advisory Committee and the public to consider, and develop final recommendations for the County to pursue over the plan’s time period. In addition to Advisory Committee meetings, which are open to the public, formal public meetings will be held to gather input from the public on the transit system alternatives, before final recommendations are made to the County.
To provide guidance to the technical staff during the preparation of this plan, and to involve concerned and affected public officials and citizen leaders more directly and actively in the development of transit service policies and improvement proposals, an Advisory Committee was appointed by the Chair of the Ozaukee County Board of Supervisors. The Advisory Committee is responsible for proposing to Ozaukee County and SEWRPC, after careful study and evaluation, a plan identifying the recommended transit service improvements in Ozaukee County over the 5 year planning window.
Commission staff will actively seek participation of the public throughout the preparation of the Ozaukee County Transit System Development Plan. The materials and public comments received during the plan development process will be summarized and made accessible on this page once they are received and summarized. The final recommended transit service improvement plan approved by the Advisory Committee will reflect the input received from the public.
