Pewaukee River Watershed Protection Plan
The watershed protection plan for the Pewaukee River provides a framework to enable communities in the area to work together with a common goal—to protect and improve the land and water resources of the Pewaukee River watershed. Through the input of the Pewaukee River Watershed Advisory Group—which includes representatives from Waukesha County and municipal governments within the watershed, Pewaukee River Partnership, the Lake Pewaukee Sanitary District, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and others representing a broad range of interests within the watershed—three major focus areas emerged for this watershed restoration plan:
Protect and improve wildlife, land, surface water, and groundwater resources;
Minimize impacts of land development by controlling both nonpoint agricultural and urban runoff pollution and flooding; and,
Build partnerships and inform the public to promote protection and safe recreational use of natural resources.
We would like to thank all of the partners who contributed to this planning effort and look forward to continuing to work with each of you.
